Como diariamente nos llega al correo el pridelist, esta ocasión fue con muy buenas noticias, a continuación transcribo un extracto:

Cada vez falta menos para uno de los lanzamientos de U2 más esperados
por los fans mexicanos, el DVD U2 POP MART Live From Mexico City, en
el que se captura la gira más impresionante que ha hecho U2 y que se
grabó en video en nuestro país.

En reunión con Universal Music se nos comentó lo siguiente:

- La fecha de salida de este DVD es el 10 de Septiembre. Hasta el
momento va en tiempo pero hay que tomar nota de que podría retrasarse
por causas ajenas a Universal. Conviene estar pendientes en las
tiendas.

- El DVD es importado de Alemania. No habrá edición nacional.

- Habrá dos formatos: la edición normal de 1 DVD y la edicion de lujo
con 2 DVDs.

- Hasta el momento continúan definiendo el precio. Se estima que
podría ser de $250 la edición normal y $400 la edición de lujo.

We're alredy in the 8th month of this year, and the release of the Pop Mart DVD is becoming nearer, and the celebration that this blog is making to the POP album goes on, so here it is the song of August: Wake Up Dead Man, a song that was played at the Pop Mart usually at the end of each show in a slow version, here it is the album version, this version is my favourite because Larry plays the drums so great, so hard.

Pop Mart DVD cambio de fecha

Nuevamente U2 (¿o la disquera?) pospone el lanzamiento del DVD del Pop Mart Live From Mexico City, existieron varias fechas de lanzamiento, y la última fue la fecha oficial 3 de Septiembre del 2007.

El miércoles 4 de Julio se publicó en U2.com la nueva fecha de lanzamiento, lo cual hace que nos preguntemos, ¿porque se pospone tanto el lanzamiento del DVD?, ¿que secreto oculta U2 o la disquera? jajajaja no lo sabemos, pero la verdad no se porque juegan tanto con los fans, en fin.

Staring at the Sun

April 25th, it was the date in which the Pop Mart Tour started in Las Vegas, 10 years ago (I'll tell more details about it on the next post), meanwhile it is time for the song of the month.

This song is pretty special as well as the others of the POP album, but this one made me feel lots of things, it took me to another world (seriously), the way Edge plays guitar in this song is amazing, so emotional, some of the lyrics talk about love, and it matched perfectly with the psychodelic video directed by Jake Scott, who created and strange but quite artistic atmosphere.

An the song of February is...

As you may remember this blog has started a little celebration of the 10th anniversary of the POP album of U2. The way in which I'll be celebrating this big event, is by posting a song each month, the song of this month is Please, a great song that was unfinished when the album was released, and that happened because the tour was booked in advance so the band rushed in the recording of the songs and released an unfinished album, afterwards several songs were rearrenged, and Please was one of those songs; the version that is in the album is good, but the version that was released as a single was a jewel. Here you'll have the chance to listen to a live version that was included in a CD named Pop Heart Live EP, and was recorded on July 18th of 1997 at the Feyenoord Stadium of Rotterdam.

El tiempo pasa volando, y ayer 2 de Diciembre y hoy 3, se cumplieron 9 años de la penùltima visita de U2 a Mexico con el Pop Mart Tour, el concierto fue lanzado en 1998 en VHS.

Quisiera compartirles ese grandioso concierto (gracias a RU2BEN quien lo subio), descarguenlo aqui, no se arrepentiran.

Por cierto, les recomiendo visiten su nuevo blog Those Whires, en el cual estarà compartiendo videos y cd's de musica Rock regularmente.

Pop Radio

Era el año de 1997, y Radioactivo 98.5 era la única estación de radio en México D.F. en la que se podía escuchar "buena música", y debido a la segunda visita de U2 a México, esta estación se convirtió en Pop Radio.

Fueron 6 días enteros de acerca de U2, y comenzaron transmisiones el 28 de Noviembre de 1997.

Hace 9 años

Hace 9 años, en un 24 de Abril en el Estadio Sam Boyd en Las Vegas, daba comienzo una de las giras más espectaculares y a la vez controversiales de U2, pues Bono enfrentaba problemas con su voz, y recién un mes antes acababan de lanzar el disco Pop, por lo que no contaron con suficiente tiempo para ensayar; así que la banda no se sentía particularmente bien de salir tan pronto a una gira mundial.


En esta ocasión, la temática era hacer una parodia del consumismo, y estaba apoyada esta idea por la pantalla de video más grande del mundo(en ese entonces), un limón gigante, desde el cual la banda emerge para tocar Discothèque, y un palillo con una aceituna gigante. La pieza central del escenario era un arco amarillo gigante, simulando la gran M de Mcdonalds.



Gracias a esta gira llena de color, vestimenta extravagante, Pop Art de Andy Warhol y Roy Linchestein, fue que conocí a U2 en concierto, pues con su álbum Pop, lanzaron como sencillo entre otros Please(Live from Rotterdam), y ahi fue la primer vez que vi lo impactante que era U2 en concierto.

México fue el elegido para promocionar la gira Pop Mart, y en 1998 fue lanzado en formato VHS el concierto del 3 de Diciembre.
